APRIL 11

Classic cars, Latin cuisine, live 10-piece band, dancing and a tropical atmosphere, that’s what guests at the 18th Annual Starry, Starry Night fundraiser for Rollins College Hamilton Holt School will experience on Friday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. It features a cocktail party, silent and live auctions, dinner, and entertainment. This year’s theme is “In the Heart of Old Havana.” Exotic trips, vacation getaways, artwork, beauty and spa packages, dinners, jewelry, home accents, celebrity and sports collectibles, and tickets to cultural and sporting events are just some of the impressive items offered at the auctions. Good Morning Winter Park kicks off at 7:45 a.m. April 11 with networking and then at 8:15 a.m. we get with the program at the Winter Park Welcome Center/Chamber of Commerce
at 151 W. Lyman Ave. in
Winter Park. The topic is “Setting the Stage: Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Update.” A complimentary continental breakfast will be served. The event is free and open to the public.

A Women’s Retreat sponsored by the First United Methodist Church Winter Park will inform you and feed your body and spirit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 at the Alfond Inn, 300 E. The city of Winter Park, in partnership with Waste Pro for household hazardous waste and A1 Assets Inc. and for e-waste, will be offering waste disposal for all city residents Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Public Works Compound located at 1409 Howell Branch Road, directly behind Fire Station 64. Rollins College will feature organ virtuoso Christopher Houlihan in the first performance of The Faith Emeny Conger ’54 Visiting Organist Concert Series in Honor of John Oliver Rich ’38, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 13 at the Knowles Memorial Chapel on the Rollins campus. Bert Rodriguez, multi-talented vocalist, actor and musical director, will perform his newly conceived cabaret, “Why Do The Wrong People Travel?” at The Winter Park Playhouse April 16 and 17 as part of the popular Spotlight Cabaret Series. Journey with Bert as he sings us through decades of musical theatre songs with his powerful tenor voice, all the while relating personal anecdotes of travel gone hysterically awry.
