UPDATED: Randal the Rascal was found over the weekend by an art festival attendee.

Known around Winter Park as the “Turtle Lady,” Carol Bachicha has been walking her three turtles through Central Park for two years. On Sept. 9, her smallest pet, Randal the Rascal, went missing in Central Park. He is about the size of a business card. If you have any information, please call Carol at 407-677-1138.

Rollins College

The Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation recently gave Rollins College a $1 million gift to assist in renovation and expansion of the Archibald Granville Bush Science Center.

Bush Center gets $1M gift

Rollins College recently celebrated the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation at a community event recognizing the Foundation for a $1 million gift to assist in renovation and expansion of the Archibald Granville Bush Science Center. The donation marks the milestone of the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation awarding more than $100 million in grants since its inception nearly 40 years ago.

Donate candy to soldiers

The Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department is once again supporting “Operation Gratitude,” a program that collects candy and gifts for American service men and women currently deployed in the remote regions of Afghanistan and hostile areas around the world. Community members are encouraged to drop off candy and letters of appreciation at one of the following Winter Park locations: Fire Station 61, 343 W. Canton Ave.; Fire Station 62, 300 S. Lakemont Ave.; Fire Station 64, 1439 Howell Branch Road; Winter Park City Hall, 401 S. Park Ave.; The Winter Park Public Library, 460 E. Artists in action at A&H

The Art & History Museums - Maitland will host Whitney Broadaway, Dawn Rosendhal, Trent Tomengo and Camilo Velásquez as part of its 2012-2013 Artist-in-Action program. Located at the A&H’s Maitland Art Center, the Artist-in-Action program has been a fixture at the institution for many years.

Students achievements

Samuel Conde, of Winter Park, a sophomore majoring in education and political science, has been selected to perform this year with the Concert Choir, the vocal ensemble at Heidelberg University.

Eric Stearman of Winter Park, has earned a MS in Psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Orange County Public Schools has 13 seniors named semifinalists in the 49th annual National Achievement Scholarship Program. Alicia Tarver of Winter Park and Rhianne McCalip of Edgewater are two of the semifinalists. The students are eligible to continue in the competition for about 800 Achievement Scholarship awards.

A&H partners with library

The Art & History Museums – Maitland is partnering with the Maitland Public Library to showcase selections from its permanent collection in the historic section of the library.

Orange teacher needs help

Walter Dahn, 68, of Longwood recently received a lifesaving heart transplant after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Dahn has been a music teacher with the Orange County school system for 30 years. Help seniors file their taxes

Volunteers are needed for AARP’S Tax-Aide Program. Tax-Aide counselors help prepare tax returns and assist with filing requirements for older taxpayers and others. Individuals with an aptitude for tax preparation, experience in filing personal returns and good communication skills are urged to sign up. AARP membership is not required to be a volunteer with this program. Volunteer counselors are trained by AARP in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. An orientation will be held in December and training for volunteer counselors begins around Jan. 7 in the Orlando area.
