Peterbrooke 10th anniversary event
Peterbrooke Chocolatier in Winter Park celebrated it's 10th anniversary at a special tasting event Sept. 23.
On Sept. 21, Jewish Academy of Orlando of Maitland took part in an international art and literacy project, Pinwheels for Peace, by “planting” pinwheels with messages of peace at the school’s entrance. Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two art teachers as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives. Winter Park residents hit the courts Sept. 10 against internationally ranked tennis players — and won — as part of an exhibition, presented by Classic Audi, at the Winter Park Racquet Club. Racquet Club head teaching professionals John Bougon and Paulo Barros triumphed over ATP-ranked players Robert Kendrick, a Winter Park resident, and Alex Bogomolov Jr. in a seven-game pro-set with scores of 7-4.
Baldwin's Bourbon, Beer and Bites event
Baldwin Park hosted its first Bourbon, Beer and Bites event Sept. 24, bringing together food, drink and music for the first time to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
On Saturday, Sept. 17, Studio K partnered with the BASE camp American Childhood Cancer Organization in a flash mob performance that took place outside of the Amway Center in downtown Orlando, prior to the “So You Think You Can Dance” show.

World Youth Day
More than a million Christians age 18-39 gathered worldwide to celebrate World Youth Day, with sites ranging from Spain to Colorado.
For one night only, the 2012 Sundance Film Festival will be at the Enzian Theater in Maitland. As part of Sundance Film Festival USA, on the second Thursday of the Festival (Jan. 26), filmmakers will travel to nine cities to introduce and screen their film and participate in a Q&A with the audience. Quilt panels needed
The Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park will present the musical, “Quilt: A Musical Celebration,” from Nov. 11-28, with a special performance on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day.
