(WINTER PARK, FL June 5, 2012) Visitors to the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens will notice many “classical portrait busts” on display in the historic home. A “bust” is the upper shoulders and head of a person, representing the actual features of that individual. But what does it take to actually sculpt one of these works of art? Find out for yourself with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! If you’re a sculptor, art enthusiast, student, or just plain curious you need to stop in to the Museum and watch the magic unfold before your eyes! This special experience is part of the Polasek’s current exhibit, and will be featuring the exquisite talents of one of the exhibiting sculptors, Peter Forester. An awarded professional sculptor, Forester, has received numerous commissions for his realistic portraiture. Stop in early at the Museum to see the art of the portrait bust created with a live model. During this six-hour demonstration, you will learn about the classical approach to realistic portrait modeling from armature construction to blocking in the shapes to modeling the features. Museum guests may attend this event for the full six hours or come and go as they please, with proof of regular museum admission. Ask questions, get up close, sketch, learn, and be amazed!
