WHAT: To kick off Parkinson’s awareness month, on April 12, Florida Hospital will be teaming up with the National Parkinson Foundation to host a conference focusing on the current and future management of Parkinson’s disease. Experts will be speaking about topics such as:
• How exercise is power
• Improving the hospital experience for Parkinson’s patients
• The dynamics of stem cell research
BKGRD: The Center for Disease control rated complications from Parkinson’s disease as the 14th leading cause of death in the United States. Each year 50,000 to 60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s are diagnosed, adding to the one million people who currently have the disease. New treatments are being discovered every year to manage and cope with this disease.
